TCS takes third in Bigside basketball tournament

In the opening match, TCS defeated Courtice SS by a score of 32-10 in front of a packed house. Fans enjoyed the half-time performance by the School’s Drum Line. Top scorers for TCS were Carolyn Smith, Alana Picov and Lauren Huxtable with six points each, while Emma Molson and Rachel Butler each netted four points.
In game two, TCS fell to Pain Court, 26-41. Despite being tied at 24-24, the Bears struggled to find the basket in the late stages of the game. Carolyn Smith had a wonderful game on offense, scoring 13 points, followed by Alexa Kruyt with seven points. Alana Picov had six points and six rebounds.
The Bears fought back in their final game of the tournament, pulling off a 37-32 win over Bayside to finish in third place. TCS was able to shut down Bayside's sharp shooters with strong defensive play, including great efforts by Lauren Huxtable, Sia Mehta and Emily Mathieson. Alana Picov had another stellar game with 12 points and 13 rebounds, as did Carolyn Smith (13 points) and Alexa Kruyt (six points).
Pain Court went on the win the tournament, defeating St. Peter’s SS from Peterborough by a score of 47-40 in an overtime battle.
