First leg of TCS-France exchange a huge success!
|Thursday, 10 November 2011|
The first phase of the exchange between Trinity College School and École St. Martin de France was a great success. For the last two weeks of October, 21 visitors from the French high school (located in Pontoise) paid a visit to TCS. Paired with 21 host members of our school community, these friendly folks were able to experience life as TCS students, engaging in all aspects of the daily routine, from classes to sports.
In addition to school life, our visitors were able to enjoy excursions to the Canadian Canoe Museum in Peterborough, Niagara (of course!), Toronto and various parts of our own Northumberland County. They experienced a variety of typical Canadian activities, from curling and broomball to pumpkin carving and costumes on Hallowe’en.
The group was made very welcome by all members of the TCS community (merci!) and the special hosts – both on campus and off – did a wonderful job in helping everyone feel welcome and fulfilled in their adventure to the land of the lumberjacks!
Our visitors were powerfully moved by their two-week experience, and there was much emotion as they boarded the airport bus to head home last week.
For phase two of the exchange, the TCS participants will enjoy a visit to École St. Martin for a happy reunion with our new friends next March. This trip will afford our students the opportunity to see the many sites of Paris and experience life in French schools and with French families.
Big merci to all participants!
