TCS celebrates 116th running of Oxford Cup
|Tuesday, 22 November 2011|
Clear skies prevailed for the 116th running of the Oxford Cup at Trinity College School on Saturday, November 19th. And students were eager to take to Hedney-Geale Trail for the historic 5 km race, with 100% participation from Senior School students, as well as strong representation from the Junior School, alumni, parents and staff.
As always, the true goal of the Oxford Cup is to bring the school community together to celebrate physical activity as part of a healthy lifestyle. But there was also some sporting competition for a host of awards. On hand to help present some of the awards was Old Boy and retired TCS master Jack Goering ’43, who won the Oxford Cup in 1941.
The top male student and winner of the 2011 Oxford Cup was Grade 9 student Oliver Blecher, who crossed the finish line first with a time of 16:09. The top female student and winner of the Wright Cup was Carly Ramsay (Grade 11), who finished in 14th place with a time of 18:08.
From the Junior School, the winners of the Saul Cup were Matty Vaughan (Grade 8) and Kailee Morrison (Grade 7). Matty finished 37th overall with a time of 19:13, while Kailee was 214th with a time of 25:06.
Greg Bathe ’06 took the Dr. Richard Boyd Memorial Trophy as top Old Boy, while Jocelyn Murphy ’06 won the Saul Cup as top Old Girl.
