International Day takes students around the world
|Monday, 05 December 2011|
Yet again, International Day at Trinity College School, hosted by the Cultural Awareness Group (CAG), was a huge success! Held on Friday, December 2nd, the event is chance to learn more about the many countries that make up our school community, as well as raise funds for a good cause.
The day started with international music being played in morning chapel, getting everyone in the international mood. This was followed by snack at break, which consisted of the sale of delicious tea from around the world and an international guild (foods from around the world brought to TCS!). This, by itself, was very successful.
CAG took over the Osler Hall menu for lunch and had German and Chinese food. During both lunches there were events taking place in the main foyer of the Senior School. The foyer was packed with not only students but staff as well, all dressed in the colours of their flags and some in their national attire. Ten Thousand Villages came down and sold some of their goodies. As for foods, there was popular chocolate fondue, sold-out homemade Belgian cookies and dumplings. There were also creative events ranging from finding out how to write your name in Chinese, which was very well received, and the application of henna, which caught the eye of a lot of girls!
All this could be charged to the students’ accounts and the money raised will go to Net Focus Chad. Net Focus is a non-governmental, volunteer-run project that seeks to establish small-scale change through a relationally focused distribution of malaria nets to Chadian orphans.
To sum it up, International Day was a amazing success!
