Trinity College School students in Grades 10 through 11 witnessed a sobering presentation on January 31st when a representative from Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) Canada visited the School.

Students watched a video produced by MADD called Damages. The presentation is a re-enactment of the trial of a young person accused of impaired driving. It follows the story of “Jesse” from the time he begins drinking with friends prior to a concert, to his decision to get behind the wheel, the tragic accident that results and his experience in a court of law. Following Jesse’s story, the film concludes with the words of real-life families affected by impaired driving.

The emotional and hard-hitting presentation was a strong reminder for students of the importance of making positive choices. According to MADD Canada, motor vehicle crashes are the number one cause of death amongst young people aged 15-25. Alcohol is a factor in 45% of these deaths. Learn more at www.madd.ca.
