Nordic skiers lead the pack at CISAA

On Wednesday, February 15th, the Trinity College School Nordic team competed at the CISAA Championships in Haliburton, where the following skiers qualified for the OFSAA provincial championships to be held February 22nd to 24th in Huntsville: Morgan Hamilton, Emilie Mann, Grace Apps, Erin Christensen, Julian McDonald, Navin Mahabir, Jonas Koch, Carlyle Apps, Alexa Kruyt, Carly Ramsay, Catherine McDonald, Liz Vasilkovs and Lauren Huxtable.

After a season with very little snow and only two official days on the TCS Nordic track, our skiers had amazing results. Ranking within the top 10 finishes in their categories were the following skiers:

• Novice girls: Emma Weller (2nd) and Deborah Ost (5th)
• Junior girls: Morgan Hamilton (1st), Emilie Mann (3rd), Grace Apps (4th) and Erin Christensen (6th)
• Junior boys: Julian McDonald (8th)
• Senior girls: Carlyle Apps (2nd), Alexa Kruyt (3rd), Liz Vasilkovs (4th), Carly Ramsay (5th), Catherine McDonald (6th), Lauren Huxtable (7th), Meredith Fraser (8th), Johanna Strolz (9th) and Olivia Segsworth (10th)
• Senior boys: Navin Mahabir (7th) and Jonas Koch (8th)

The TCS Junior boys relay team consisting of Julian MacDonald, Sam Mann, Ben Wilson and Callum Williams placed second, while Cam Byers, Guillaume Ferrier, Navin Mahabir and Jonas Koch placed second in the Senior boys relay. Erin Christenson, Grace Apps, Morgan Hamilton and Emilie Mann were the top Junior girls team of the day.

Congratulations to all our competitors. A special congratulations to Jacqui Smith from Bermuda who competed in her first Nordic race! We wish our OFSAA competitors the best of luck!
