Under sunny skies, Trinity College School hosted a successful day/boarding Parent Weekend, February 5th & 6th, in conjunction with parent-teacher interviews. This was the second of two parent weekends held at the School this year.
The goal of the weekend was to strengthen the connection and communication parents have with the School and to give parents the opportunity to “walk the halls” as their children do.
Events kicked off on Friday afternoon as parents enjoyed a light lunch and reception in the Davies Student Centre. This was followed by the first round of parent-teacher interviews, which took place throughout the weekend across campus. At 4:00 p.m. parents enjoyed an informative and buoyant Parents’ Advisory Council social with many interesting topics up for discussion, including student and academic support, service learning at TCS, and new Web-based information for parents. After dinner, parent-teacher interviews continued and for those interested we opened our observatory and tours were given.
Saturday began with more parent-teacher interviews followed by an afternoon filled with numerous activities including basketball games and a parent versus student hockey shinny. Also, parents had the opportunity to watch captivating classroom demonstrations by Senior School students which took place in our science, art and music departments.
Later, afternoon actives started with an enchanting Evensong chapel service featuring our very own delightful choir and bell ringers, followed by a reception in the Davies Student Centre with music provided by Jen Wen ’12 on the piano, and then a scrumptious dinner in Osler Hall. The evening’s activities concluded with a reception in the Common Room.
The weekend was a huge success with special thanks to the many parent, student and staff volunteers who helped make this event possible, and to the TCS Parents' Association for spearheading this event.
