Medal winning weekend for TCS athletics

Headmaster Stuart Grainger awarded Senior School students a well-deserved "half day" yesterday in recognition of a highly successful weekend for TCS athletics.

At the OFSAA cross country running championships in Thunder Bay over the weekend, Foundation Year student Liane Ouellet-Gaston earned the gold medal for her first place finish in the midget girls' 3000m race. This marks the first individual OFSAA cross country gold medal in Trinity College School history as well as the first individual cross country gold medal for any CISAA school. Three TCS runners also had amazing finishes with William Morrison placing 90th in the junior boys' category, and Jaclyn Agnew-Pople and Rebecca Ro placing 50th and 49th in the junior girls' category. The TCS junior girls' team had a terrific weekend, placing 19th overall. Congratulations to all members of the TCS cross country team many of whom ran personal best times.

Adding to the gold medal win, the Littleside girls' basketball team defeated Villanova College in overtime to capture the silver medal at the CISAA championships held at Branksome Hall on Saturday.

The Bigside boys' volleyball team lost a tough game to UCC on Saturday by a score of 3-1 (13-25, 19-25, 25-22, 19-25), but had a very strong season overall and finished in third place in the CISAA.

At Monday's chapel service, Headmaster Grainger also acknowledged the outstanding seasons played by Littleside football, Littleside girls' basketball and the CISAA championship winning under-14 boys' soccer and junior girls' field hockey teams.
