Girls basketball shines at TCS

With home court advantage, the TCS Bigside girls' basketball team defeated Ridley College 36-25 on November 8th to win the CISAA championship. This marks the first time since 1994 that Bigside girls' basketball has won the championship and finished the season undefeated. The very close game shifted in TCS's favour in the final three minutes with scoring by Kristin Ouellet-Gaston and successful free throws by Hailey Swift. Playing a strong defensive game, TCS shined with outstanding performances by Brittany Pitt, Hailey Swift and Rachel Flynn.

TCS had earned its shot at the title with a runaway victory in the semi-finals earlier in the day. With key contributions by Steph Kelley and Caroline Chagnon, TCS edged out Branksome Hall 61-41 to win its highest scoring game of the season.

The gold medal win comes on the heels of the fantastic silver medal win by the Littleside girls' basketball team who defeated Villanova College at the CISAA championships last Saturday.

The Bigside girls' team will meet Hillfield Strathallan in the OFSAA qualifier next Wednesday, November 15 here at TCS.
