Senior School dodgeball tournament benefits the Heart and Stroke Foundation

Senior School students raised close to $1,700 for the Heart and Stroke Foundation through a dodgeball tournament held over four nights in January. Over 100 students, on 16 teams, participated in the tournament which took place January 17th, 18th, 25th and 26th.

Before the first ball was thrown, last year's fundraising total had been surpassed by way of online pledges. Approximately $700 was raised by the tournament participants with an additional $1,000 raised by the leadership class, led by faculty member Thomas Tansley.

The finals provided a close match as "The Comrades" defeated "The Shockers" to claim victory in this year's event. The Comrades team consisted of students Win McKay, Sid Smith, Kevin Caza, Gray Burnett-Herkes, Doug Scott and Arin Theravithayangkura.

The event was part the foundation's Fit for Heart programme, which encourages groups to hold fitness-based activities to raise funds for research and promote awareness of the importance of a healthy lifestyle in the prevention of heart disease and stroke.
