TCS brings home five medals from DECA provincials

The development of Trinity College School’s DECA chapter was highlighted as our team brought home five medals from the provincial competition, held February 8th to 10th in Toronto. This is just the second year TCS has competed, and our team could not be happier with the results.

DECA is an international program that inspires students in areas of leadership and entrepreneurship. Students compete in business categories including hospitality, marking, law, finance and management. For our TCS chapter members, DECA is an opportunity to develop their skills in critical thinking, communication and creativity, which are at the core of the School’s academic vision.

Ontario is the third largest DECA delegation in the world, and our students faced over 7,500 of the province’s finest during the three days of fierce competition. TCS students earned spots in their chosen events through the regional contest held in November, and they continued to shine at the provincial level.

Grade 9 student Kyle Munns received three medals in his principle event of finance, placing in the top 15 in the oral II and written exam portions, as well as top 15 overall. Grade 12 students Emmanuel Ferreira and Trevor Murray earned top 15 medals for their oral presentations in the finance services team event.

Congratulations to all of the TCS DECA Chapter members who represented the School, including Tyler Lawson, Jaden Love, Lainey Moser, Will Roberts, Noor Yassein and Andrew Youssef, who attended the Leadership Development Academy. Provincials was a great experience, filled with award ceremonies, sponsor showcases, a scavenger hunt and draws, as well as evening entertainment.

We look forward to welcoming even more students to the club as it continues its growth. We will begin accepting new members for the 2018-2019 year this April and May. Join us!
