Annual show celebrates a love of dance!

Trinity College School’s Dance Troupe presented its annual show on Tuesday, March 6th, sharing their love of dance with an appreciative audience in the Dick and Jane LeVan Theatre. The troupe, which is overseen by instructor/choreographer Ms. Stephanie Booth and TCS faculty member Ms. Maria Velasquez-Labrecque, was joined by members of the TCS Dance Club as well as TCS Grade 5 student Ruby Campbell, and guest performers from Premiere Dance Cobourg: Ella Booth-Doris and Camden LeRoux. Dance Troupe captains Emma Moran and Hallie Paddock, who are in Grade 12, also lead the Dance Club.

The dancers embraced a variety of musical styles, kicking off with a Bollywood number and moving through Broadway, hip hop, jazz, tap and more. Ms. Booth and her Premiere Dance Cobourg colleague, Ms. Christyna McGregor, choreographed several numbers, while many of the students also took on the role of choreographer. The creativity, enthusiasm and heart of the students showed through in each and every performance.

The members of the TCS Dance Troupe are: Miah Burrows, Nita Das, Liesl Ge, Emma Moran, Hallie Paddock, Renata Ruiz, Bella Savard, Clare Schofield, Gei Yan Wong, Sophia Slavchenko and Mico Yao. The Dance Club consists of: Miah Burrows, Camryn Chalovich, Paige Coulter-Vansickle, Loretta Hu, Naomi Larocque, Charisse Lee, Sophia Slavechenko, Clare Schofield, Roselle Torres (who was joined by Abi Aicardi for a duet), Lottie Wheling and Tessa Zander.

Many people worked behind the scenes to help make the show a success. Thank you to Mr. Bill Walker (director of co-curricular arts), Mr. Cory McKercher (sound/lighting design), Bella Savard (slideshow), Mr. Peter Mao (photographer), Clare Schofield and Sophia Slavchenko (poster/program design), Emma Moran (photo board), Cameryn Lang (stage manager), and our ushers and helpers: Ehi and Ose Aziegbemhin, Claire Gardiner and Olivia Pattison.

Thanks also go to the audience members who supported our students throughout the evening. The highlight of the show is always seeing performers connect with the audience as they tell their stories through the art of dance.
