Happy 90th birthday, Tom Lawson!

On Friday, April 6th, members of the Trinity College School community gathered at The Lodge to wish retired faculty member Tom Lawson ’47 a happy 90th birthday.

Guests included current and fellow retired staff members, board members, students from the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s, and even a classmate of Tom’s from the class of 1947. Tom’s four children – Phil ’83, Graeme ’88, Molly (former TCS teacher) and Pippa – were all in attendance.

A slideshow of photos from Tom’s years at TCS was shown, and messages from alumni were presented to him. After graduating from TCS in 1947, Tom returned to join the English faculty from 1955 to 1988. During his more than three decades at the School, he served as Ketchum housemaster (1978 to 1988), football coach and head of the English Department. Tom not only expanded the debating program at TCS, but was instrumental in the founding of a national high school debating program. Today, Tom serves as an honorary trustee of the School, and is a fixture at TCS events.

Tom was very pleased by the turnout for his birthday, and made a point to speak with everyone in attendance.
