Importance of connections highlighted at Career Showcase

Senior School students were invited to learn more about how their future careers might be shaped by educational paths, personal passion and connections, during the annual Career Showcase held the evening of Tuesday, April 10th. Hosted by the philanthropy and alumni office, a group of 10 alumni and one parent shared their professional insights with students.

Following a welcome in the Cirne Commons by Mike Bellamy ’93, chair of the BearTracks Network program, every Senior School student headed to the first of their two selected breakout sessions to hear about different career journeys and gain perspective on how careers paths look in the modern, challenging job market. Speakers focused on the value of asking questions and seeking out mentorship from people within their career field who could offer advice and guidance.

We thank the following for giving their time and expertise in the breakout sessions:

  • Ben Baldwin ’92
  • Allison Buchanan ’02
  • Rob Evans ’96
  • Lauren Jones ’00
  • Laura Kucey ’96
  • Kieran Mathew ’14
  • Kristin Matthews ’95
  • Peter Zakarow ’92
  • Julian Northey ’93
  • Dr. Karen Northey (current parent)
  • Elizabeth Phipps ’03

We would also like the thank Kelly Ambrose and the information technology technicians and stewards for their assistance, the property department for helping to set up rooms and the culinary services staff for a wonderful dinner.
