10th Annual Week Without Walls: Living our school mission

ME to WE Ecuador School Build

Developing habits of the heart and mind for a life of purpose and service. At Trinity College School, this mission statement is integrated into our daily lives, resonating in our classrooms, our co-curricular and residential programs and in our everyday interactions. As we prepare for the 10th annual Week Without Walls, the emphasis is on service and our Senior School students and staff couldn’t be more excited to get out into the community and do some good!

For one group of students, the Week Without Walls experience has already begun, as they departed for Ecuador on Saturday, November 24th. After touring the capital city of Quito and learning about Ecuadorian culture, the group travelled to the community of Sablog in Chimborazo region, where they will work alongside community members on a construction project, in partnership with ME to WE. We’ve received several updates from the group, and you can follow their adventures at www.tcs.on.ca/ecuador.

Another group, headed to the Island School on Eleuthera, Bahamas, departs this coming weekend for one week of environmental science and service. Their journey will be technology-free, but we look forward to receiving photos and hearing their stories upon their return.

Here at TCS, nearly 65 different groups are gathering on campus to take part in planning meetings on November 29th and December 3rd. These meetings will help them prepare for the sites at which they will serve each afternoon from December 4th to 6th. Every Senior School student and educational staff member will take part, along with several operational staff members.

We are pleased that our students are being welcomed back by so many of our past community partners in the Toronto, Durham, Peterborough, Quinte and Northumberland regions. And we’re also happy to add two new partners this year: Warming Room Community Ministries, a Peterborough-based organization focused on shelter, food and community-building; and Limberlost, a wildlife and forest reserve that offers community trails to the public near Huntsville, Ontario.

We hope you will join us for the Week Without Walls, by following along on our TCS website and social media sites, where we will post photos and updates daily:
