TCS volleyball tournament expands in second year

In just its second year of existence the Trinity College School Invitational Girls Basketball Tournament grew to include 21 teams, each one eager to gain some early season experience while enjoying the facilities of the Arnold Massey ’55 Athletic Centre on December 14th and 15th.

While last year’s inaugural tournament saw 14 teams participate, this year there were nine teams at the Senior (Bigside) level and 12 at the Junior (Littleside level). Overall, 240 players took part in the event from schools across Ontario.

This is a great warm-up event for our TCS teams, who will see most of their league action in the new year. Each Senior team was guaranteed at least four games in the tournament, and each Junior team at least five.

The winner of the Senior “A” final was Sydenham, who beat out Adam Scott Collegiate in the championship match. TCS won the Senior “B” final with a win over St. Theresa. In the Junior ranks, Regiopolis’ A and B teams faced off in the championship, with the A team taking the title.

Thank you to all of the teams who took part and to the many volunteers who helped the tournament to run smoothly.
