The 2022-2023 school year begins!
  • The 2022-2023 school year begins!

Under sunny skies, the 2022-2023 school year got underway at Trinity College School on Tuesday, September 6th, as Grade 12 students were welcomed to campus.

The first day of opening week is a chance for the “Class of 2023” to bond as a grade and celebrate their final year at the School. Boarders spent the morning moving back into their residences, and day students arrived just in time for a delicious barbecue lunch on the terraces.

A special grad chapel was held in the Memorial Chapel, followed by some team-building fun on the fields as planned and led by the prefects, and then planning sessions for our Grade 12 students, who will take on a leadership role in welcoming their younger housemates and in events such as Friday’s fun & games (aka Ruckus). The afternoon concluded with an initial meeting with the guidance team to lay the foundation for the year ahead.

“It is so exciting to be receiving students back on campus this week,” noted Kristopher Churchill, head of Senior School – academics & student life. “As we appreciate now, more than ever, learning is a social construct – underscoring our rationale through opening days for spending as much time on creating the conditions for learning, including building professional relationships with our students, as we spend on the content of learning. The active programming is fun, exciting, and one of the many highlights of the academic year!”

Over at Boulden House, new Grade 5 students were invited to drop in for an afternoon orientation to life in the Junior School, including visiting their new classroom! The students were excited to formally begin classes alongside their Grade 6-8 peers, on Wednesday.

The day concluded with a “Summer Soiree” for Grade 12 students in the Nash Garden, followed by dinner in Osler Hall.

On Wednesday, September 7th, TCS will welcome our Junior School students, returning Grade 10 and 11 boarders and new Senior School day students to campus, as opening week continues!
