Fall Fulford debate features chills and thrills
  • Fall Fulford debate features chills and thrills

It was a successful return to in-person interschool debating for students representing Trinity College School in the fall tournament of the Fulford League, hosted at Royal St. George’s College in Toronto on October 29th.

TCS is a founding member of the Fulford League, which is composed of independent schools. Over the course of the academic year, the league hosts three tournaments, at which schools are represented by teams of Junior (Grade 9-10) and Senior (Grade 11-12) debaters. At TCS, debating coaching and practice are offered through the Thursday co-curricular arts program, led by faculty member Greg MacPherson, with students vying to represent the School at one of the three Fulford League debates as well as the Ontario Student Debating Union provincial championships.

The fall Fulford involved three impromptu rounds of debate, including one round with a resolution dedicated to Hallowe’en monsters. Competing for TCS were Junior debaters Nicolas Shi and Roger Zhang, and Senior debaters Keefer Carriere and Haron Wang. All of the team members represented the School admirably, with special congratulations going to Haron, for placing in the top five overall in the Senior category.

After two years of online debates with our peer schools, it was wonderful to have the chance to meet, and compete, in person again.
