  • Senior boys harriers win OFSAA bronze! Senior boys harriers win OFSAA bronze!

The Senior School harriers team capped off a brilliant season with historic results, representing Trinity College School at the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) Championships on November 5th. The Senior boys runners brought home provincial bronze medals and the Junior girls placed sixth overall, with strong finishes under challenging conditions at Dagmar Ski Resort in Uxbridge.

TCS runners earning berths in the provincial meet included the Senior boys, Senior girls and Junior girls teams. Their accomplishments are all the more commendable given that this is the first full season – including a full provincial championship – since 2019. The event welcomed more than 100 schools from across Ontario, with more than 1,600 runners taking to the course.

Winning the bronze in the Senior boys category were: Aidan Small (35th place), Liam Small (44th), Liam Gibson (83rd), Andrew Richards (107th) and James Hassard (121st). The team was just three points away from a silver medal!

The Junior girls had a stellar day on the course to land on the podium in sixth place. Congratulations to Abby Richards (70th place), Bianca Rigamonte (71st), Charlotte Belanger (84th), Charlotte Patterson (86th) and Hannah Thompson (151st).

And our Senior girls were 30th overall, through the determined efforts of Avery Vrooman (172nd place), Nina Gardes (192nd), Dagna Jezioro (226th) and Xenia Blankenburg (232nd).

The unseasonably warm day was a blessing for spectators but made for difficult conditions for runners. The perseverance displayed by the TCS teams was incredible. Coach Steve Patterson noted, “Everyone who competed yesterday showed tremendous courage to push through to the finish on a day when so many runners in every field ‘bonked’ and struggled to finish. I have to think there were a record number of DNFs. There is no doubt that every TCS athlete finished on empty yesterday.”

Congratulations to the entire team on a fantastic showing!
