  • Bigside girls basketball reflects on a season of growth and progress

After two years, Trinity College School’s Bigside basketball girls were finally able to have a normal season again!

The “Friday Night Lights” game returned for the first time since pre-COVID, and the girls got to play in front of a packed house and enthusiastic fans on Friday, November 14th, during the annual TCS invitational tournament. TCS hosted eight teams from across the province, where the basketball girls got their first big win against Holy Trinity. (Click here for photos from the tournament.)

The team kept working hard and improving their skills throughout the season, and ended their season in second in the East Division, even beating the top team, Branksome, in the final regular season game.

Going into the semi-finals, the girls were on a four-game winning streak following their quarter-final against BSS, marking their biggest win of the season: winning with a 23 point difference. Despite missing two key players in the semi-finals, the girls put up a great fight against Villanova, who were the eventual league champions.

The Bigside basketball girls finished top-four in the league and played spectacularly throughout the season, drastically improving as time progressed. Their coaches, Mr. Courtney Christ and Mr. Luke O’Connell, helped the girls develop their skills and game play throughout the season. The graduating girls know the team will do amazing things next year and want to wish them luck.
