  • Leadership symposium promotes sharing of ideas amongst schools

On Monday, November 21st, a group of 12 Trinity College School students (Lily Wright, Nya Fludzinski, Danie Green, Anna Dobrinski, Nicholas Damiani, Hannah Bailey, Sarah Fagan, Joey Paduano, Hannah Bodden, Riley Escorcio, Serar Omar and Nicolas Shi) travelled to Ridley College for the CIS Ontario Thrive Student Leadership Symposium. The TCS students attended two student-led presentations focused on student leadership, allowing for discussion time.

During both sessions, students were able to talk with peers from other schools about aspects of their own schools that could be improved through their leadership. They were then able to look at how other schools engaged students of all ages in different community events, each pulling inspiration from those other schools. Some of the ideas that were talked about included how to engage students in activities through a variety of events for students to enjoy. By collaborating with each other, the group was able to create different event ideas, each being unique. Another focus of the session was how to get older students engaged in school activities since the younger students in the school look to the seniors as role models.

Throughout the day, students were exposed to new ideas that they are going to take back to TCS to hopefully be implemented in everyday school life. Once the students were back on the bus and headed home, after a much-needed snack, they talked about what they had learned and how they think TCS can benefit from the things that they had learned from the symposium.
