Reading is fun! And it’s even more fun when it’s combined with snacks, games and great friends, as it was for the BookIt 2023 reading marathon on Saturday, January 7th.
Hosted by the Senior School library, BookIt invites students to come together to read between noon and midnight. This year, 35 avid readers took part, with 28 staying for the full 12 hours! Spread out around the library, students were so happy to have the chance to wrap up in a blanket, curl up on the comfy library furniture, and lose themselves in a great read.
Favourite BookIt traditions returned throughout the day, including book prizes, Just Dance breaks, and a gong striking to mark the beginning of reading sessions. Special thanks to Mr. Campbell Hall for opening the kitchen for late night ice cream cones.
Over the course of the event, participants tracked their reading, and by the time the clock struck midnight, a total of 14,402 pages had been read! TCS truly is a community that shares a love of reading.
