Trinity College School’s Bigside boys hockey team was thrilled to welcome visiting teams and spectators for the return of the annual invitational tournament, held February 10th and 11th in the Peter Campbell Memorial Rink.

“The tournament went off without a hitch,” says Bigside coach Trevor Clark. The Bears won their first game 5-3 against Crestwood Prep on Friday afternoon, but lost their second game, a Friday night match versus Lakefield College, 2-0. Nonetheless, notes Coach Clark, “The crowd Friday night was energized and having a good time, with much thanks to our DJ and MC, Mr. Joel Wesley.”

The hosts were even able to fit in a Middleside game against Ridley College on the Friday night, which TCS won with 30 seconds left in the game! Sarah Fagan scored the winning goal to defeat Ridley.

Bigside bounced back with a win against Ridley on Saturday morning, which put TCS into the finals for a rematch against Lakefield. “DJ Wesley was back in the building and so were the fans,” says Mr. Clark. “It was a great atmosphere again.” The Bears had a much stronger performance this time, defeating Lakefield 5-1 to keep the Trinity Cup championship title here at home.

A special shout-out goes to Ms. Taylor Herrington and Mr. Dale Dettman (arena operator), as well as Mr. Wesley, for their help over the weekend.
