Mother Nature shone down on the group of 19 Trinity College School students and chaperones, Ms. Erin McGee and Ms. Taylor Herrington, as they travelled to Sandbanks Provincial Park for the summative trip in the PAD3O course, May 5th to 7th.

PAD3O, or Grade 11 Healthy Living and Outdoor Activities, teaches students about living a healthy lifestyle through outdoor activities. This includes imparting skills for travelling and staying safely in the wilderness, such as canoeing, campsite management and orienteering.

During their summative excursion, students had the opportunity to collaborate on determining the most important survival items in a scenario, and demonstrate the “art of tarp” (putting up a tarp), fire-building skills, knot-tying abilities, and proper campsite maintenance. All weekend, the group enjoyed delicious food that was prepared over the open fire.

Although the weather was chilly, the sun was a welcomed member of the trip, and the sunsets on the beach were gorgeous.

Kudos to the students for demonstrating collaboration, communication and creative problem-solving throughout the journey!
