Additional Fees & Costs

Initiation Fee - for first year students only: A one-time non-refundable initiation fee. The amount varies, dependent upon grade of entry and whether day or boarding. Consult the downloadable fee tables for specifics.

Annual Facilities Fee - commencing the student’s second year (not applicable to first year students): A yearly fee of $1,000 per student. Proceeds from this annual fee support building maintenance, repair and enhancement as part of the TCS Renaissance Plan. Visit www.tcs.on.ca/renaissanceplan to learn more about this initiative.

Uniforms: These can be purchased new from our supplier or used in the Bear Boutique guild store on campus. Most families look at $750-$1,000 in their first year for uniform expenses.

Athletics: The costs of participating in athletics at TCS is generally covered by tuition. However, some sports, by their nature, will result in an extra expense for families, with costs typically associated with tournaments and/or travel. For example, travel and/or equipment associated with the Bigside (Varsity) hockey teams may result in an additional expense of $2,000-3,000 which will be billed during the season. Another example would be the equestrian program where the School works to offer services through a local stable and families are responsible for lesson, transportation and horse boarding/leasing costs.

Books: For Senior School students, books are purchased from the School (either new or second-hand when available) and can be resold to the store at the end of the school year (depending on the condition of the book and whether or not it is being used next year). We recommend budgeting around $500 for books for the year initially. Junior School students are charged a fee of approximately $75 for consumable books and texts. All other textbooks and novels are loaned to the students by the School.

Laptop: For Senior School students, a laptop is mandatory. For new Senior School students, we ask that you bring your own Apple notebook. A modest software fee may apply depending on course selection.

Tuition Refund Plan (TRP): The tuition insurance premium is calculated at 1.58% of the total tuition fee, less any financial assistance awarded, plus Ontario sales tax of 8%. This insurance is mandatory for all families on the three, quarterly or monthly payment plan and optional for families choosing the full payment plan.

Junior School class trips: Each year the Grade 5/6 and Grade 7/8 classes go on class trips with the cost being approximately $500.

Health Insurance: For families outside Canada, we would recommend health insurance at the cost of approximately $650 annually. To renew the insurance, the family must contact the TCS health centre directly each year.

Other: There will be some extra costs for certain team uniforms, incidentals and travel costs. Please call admissions for details (905-885-3209).

Over $3 million is financial assistance available to families each year

If you ask a Trinity College School parent, student or alumnus the value of a TCS education you are likely to hear that the experience is “life-changing” and “priceless.” However, being able to offer an education, community and learning environment that are energetic, illuminating and complete, means there is an associated cost in the form of tuition. We realize that many families feel such a financial commitment is beyond their capabilities. That is why TCS works to support families who would not otherwise be able to afford a TCS education on their own. The School is pleased to be able to award over $3 million dollars in bursaries each year.
