The Advanced Placement (AP) program at Trinity College School continues to provide motivated students with the opportunity for academic enrichment through a wide selection of challenging courses. These courses are designed for students with strong learning skills who are eager to engage with advanced-level material.
As always, AP exams assess students’ readiness for university-level work, with scores ranging from 1 to 5. A score of 3 reflects a student who is “qualified” to succeed in university courses, while a score of 5 indicates the student is “extremely well qualified” in that subject.
This year, an impressive 173 TCS Senior School students joined millions of students worldwide to write the College Board AP examinations. In 2024, a total of 329 examinations were written resulting in 87.28% of our students earning an examination score of 3 or higher. There were 54 AP Scholar designations this year, averaging 3.84.
AP Capstone Results
Spring 2024 also saw the tenth cohort of students complete the two-year AP Capstone Diploma™ program. This year, seven students earned diplomas, having achieved a score of 3 or higher in AP Seminar, AP Research and four additional AP exams of their choosing. Congratulations to Aoo Audsabumrungrat, Oliver Gu, Jun Hong, Eric Jin, Wolfgang van Gulik, Haoran Wang and Celina Zhou.
The AP Seminar and Research Certificate™ was awarded to Hannah Bodden, Victoria Brown, Reina Chen, Eason Chen, Anna Dobrinski, Nya Fludzinski, Arthur Jackman, Hebe Lu, Nolan McReelis, Monya Paine, Sela Schunk, Sienna Taylor and Natalya Viznyak, who each earned a score of 3 or higher in both the AP Seminar and AP Research courses.
AP Awards and Recognition
TCS is proud of the incredible efforts of our AP Scholar-level award winners. This year, 27 students each earned a grade of at least 3 on three different AP exams and were awarded the distinction of AP Scholar. Eleven students earned an average score of 3.25 on all AP exams taken, with scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams, achieving the status of AP Scholar with Honor. Congratulations to Rania Butt, Ayaan Chaudhary, Reina Chen, Anna Dobrinski, Sarah Egan, Nya Fludzinski, Arthur Jackman, Christina Jia, Serar Omar, Arjun Sharma and Cyrus Yau.
Sixteen students received an average score of 3.5 on all AP exams taken, with scores of 3 or higher in five or more of these exams, and were awarded AP Scholar with Distinction. Congratulations to Aoo Audsabumrungrat, Keefer Carriere, Jerry Chen, Laurence Chevalier, Oliver Gu, Eric Jin, William Liu, Nicolas Shi, Wolfgang van Gulik, Haoran Wang, Lily Wright, Terry Wu, Emma Xu, Dexter Young, Jennifer Zhang and Celina Zhou.
Our AP students and faculty are congratulated for their dedication and hard work towards the AP program, as the academic challenges of these examinations extend well beyond the requirements of the Ontario curriculum.
