Grade 7 Social Studies

Grade 7 social studies includes both Canadian history and geography. The history component covers the period from the early European explorers to the 1837 Rebellions, while geography concentrates on physical features. In this course, students have the opportunity to demonstrate multiple intelligences through many different types of oral and written reports, debating, mapping and graphing. A particular strength of this course is an emphasis on role-playing activities and the opportunities for cross-curricular integration with other subjects such as art, physical education and English. Critical thinking, note-taking and questioning are also important strategies in Grade 7.
