Message from Head of Senior School, Kristopher Churchill

Dear Senior School Parents and Guardians,

Today I am pleased to share the plan for welcoming our Senior School students back to school this September. Whether your child will be arriving in person or via TCS Connect e-community, please familiarize yourselves with the Opening Week Schedule below.

For those families with students in the Junior School, please note that the Boulden House opening week details will be part of a communication sent, from Head of Junior School Jennifer Wyatt, on the week of August 24th.

As we look ahead to the re-opening of campus, now would be a good time to remind that we will all have a role to play in the maintenance of our community’s health. We request that parents begin to encourage their child(ren) to learn the habit of continual self-screening. Once school is back in session, day parents will be asked to please remind their child(ren) of the following question prior to leaving home every day; boarding students will be prompted as well.

Do you have any of the following symptoms?

  • Fever / chills
  • New cough or a cough that is getting worse
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Shortness of breath (even when sitting or walking regularly)
  • Sore throat (not due to allergies)
  • A runny or congested nose (not due to allergies)
  • An unusual level of fatigue
  • An unusual headache
  • Nausea/vomiting, diarrhea, or loss of appetite
  • Feeling unwell for an unknown reason

This question aligns with the Daily COVID-19 Health Screening Survey that all members of our community will complete online daily, prior to leaving home or their dorm room. Information regarding the phone/web-based screening survey will be sent via email to families and students prior to opening week.

Some helpful notes about the Senior School Opening Week Schedule:

  • For any students joining us for the start of the school year via the TCS Connect e-community platform, please note that you will be receiving more details soon on what the opening of school will look like for you. However, do take special notice of the schedule items marked “virtual” as these are events that ALL TCS students are joining virtually, so please plan to login for those particular sessions (the first session for boarders is on Wednesday, September 9th). And, importantly, mark your calendar for Saturday, September 12th when the TCS Connect Orientation event will be held.
  • While this Opening Week Schedule cannot include all the details about this busy first week back, please plan to join us for one of the webinars being offered for parents next week. During these sessions, TCS’s academic and student life teams will be providing an overview of return to school plans and details, followed by a Q&A session.
