Alpine Skiing

Competition
The TCS alpine team competes weekly during the winter season, in the Conference of Independent Schools Athletic Association (CISAA). The league hosts approximately 10-12 teams with a mix of Level 1 and Level 2 racers. Level 1 racers are those athletes who are new to the sport of alpine racing, while Level 2 racers are athletes who have race training experience or who have represented and competed with racing clubs in the past. The race season consists of five CISAA starts with the opportunity to qualify for Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) competition.
Facilities
TCS has an excellent relationship with our local ski resort, Brimacombe. Racers have access to set training environments and lane space on a regular basis, all of which are set by TCS coaches themselves. The pro shop at the hill, Slopeside, works closely with the team in order to facilitate race equipment and gear needs. A waxing facility on campus provides racers with all the tools needed to ensure that equipment is race ready prior to both training and competition.
Development
Alpine season starts in November, with focused dryland training and on-hill tactical skiing once our local hill opens. Specific and targeted training trips take place prior to the Christmas break. During the winter season, a typical week involves the following:
- Monday – Slalom and GS gate training environment, on-hill at Brimacombe
- Tuesday – Core workouts, weight training and tuning
- Wednesdays – Travel to CISAA races at clubs in the Collingwood area
- Fridays – Tactical skiing and training at Brimacombe
