Students arrive for an exciting new school year!
|Tuesday, 06 September 2011|
The Trinity College School campus began to come alive on Tuesday, September 6th, as new day students and returning boarders arrived for the start o f the 2011-2012 school year.
Admissions staff and student greeters were on hand in front of LeVan Hall to welcome the new day families and lead them off to an orientation session with their housemasters, as well as a tour of the campus and an introduction to their faculty advisors. The parents took part in a session with the shared leadership team and our new academic directors: Myke Healy (director of teaching & learning) and David Brown (director of academic administration). At the same time, students received their laptops from the information technology services team – this year, for the first time, TCS is offering Mac laptops in addition to Dells. After a brief meeting with Headmaster Stuart Grainger, the students joined their parents for their first lunch in Osler Hall before departing for the day.
Throughout the day, returning boarders and their families could be seen toting luggage across campus as the students got settled into their residence rooms. And the sports fields buzzed with activity as Bigside teams began practicing. In the evening, Grade 12 returning boarders had the chance to meet with the headmaster before taking part in house meetings.
The beginning of school is like a second “New Year” for students, parents and staff alike, as we make an enthusiastic fresh start, says Head of Senior School Kristopher Churchill. “If you are returning to the School, there is an opportunity to reinvent yourself, so how great is that? And, new students to the School get to paint themselves using a fresh palette of colours.”
