Guidance

The Trinity College School guidance department endeavours to support the growth and development of every student.

How do we do this?

Through group and individual meetings at every grade level, our team of guidance professionals:

  • Guide students to think about their values
  • Grow awareness of educational pathways
  • Educate about planning for the future
  • Facilitate social-emotional understanding, development and education

We understand the importance of providing a safe and nurturing environment where students feel welcomed and affirmed. In addition, we are committed to working closely with parents and faculty to ensure a highly integrated approach to student support.

While at TCS, students will have access to two counsellors (assigned by house):

Academic & Post-Secondary Support Counsellors will support students with things such as:

  • Course selection
  • Enrichment opportunities
  • Summer programs
  • Goal setting (personal, academic and career development)
  • Post-secondary and scholarship applications

Social-Emotional Support Counsellors will offer students the opportunity to explore, understand and work through personal issues such as:

  • Self-esteem
  • Stress
  • Anger, sadness
  • Motivation, perfectionism
  • Relationships and family
  • Grief/loss
  • Sexuality and gender

While at TCS, students will also have the opportunity to participate in:

  • University fairs (over 50 post-secondary institutions are hosted each year)
  • University visits (a variety of campus tours are organized yearly)
  • A comprehensive Grade 10 Career Studies course
