Book It! a chance to share a love of literature
|Monday, 23 January 2012|
For the sixth year running, Trinity College School students gathered in the Senior School library from noon to midnight to celebrate a love of reading, and to support literacy initiatives. Dozens of students took time out of their busy schedules to take part in “Book It!” on Saturday, January 21st.
Despite (or maybe because of) the many demands on their time, this event provides students with much-needed downtime, and the opportunity to enjoy and discuss what they’re reading with friends. It’s always a pleasure to hear students recommending a book to someone else, and discovering new titles or authors cherished by others.
All students participating contributed new or gently-used books: young adult materials will go to Rebound Child & Youth Services Northumberland, and children’s books will go to the Children’s Book Bank, a charitable organization which provides free books and literacy support to children in a lower income community in Toronto. Members of the TCS family were instrumental in the creation of the book bank, and the TCS library is pleased to support its work.
