Two Trinity College School debaters had a strong showing at the recent Ontario Student Debating Union Junior Provincial Championships, earning an invitation to the national tournament.

Grade 9 students Wyatt S. and Tony W., and debate coach Greg MacPherson attended the provincials, held at Havergal College on Sunday, April 14th. The debaters competed in five rounds, including two prepared debates on the motion, “This House, as Ontario, supports the expansion of nuclear energy,” and three impromptu rounds.

Wyatt finished sixth overall, and the team finished fifth. This result qualified them for the Canadian Student Debating Federation’s Junior National Championships, to be held in Halifax in May. Congratulations Wyatt and Tony!
