Teamwork a focus for PAD3O summative trip
  • Group of campers

Students in the PAD3O (Healthy Living and Outdoor Activities) course at Trinity College School journeyed to Sandbanks Provincial Park over the weekend to put the skills they have been learning throughout the year to the test. The summative activity in the course, the excursion was also a chance to hone skills of teamwork and collaboration.

Students departed TCS the afternoon of Friday, May 3rd, heading just over 100 km southeast to Sandbanks, which is located on the shores of Lake Ontario in Prince Edward County. There, they set up tents and tarps and practiced the different knots they had learned in class. Throughout their stay, students worked on fire building and cooking for the group, with meals including mac and cheese, eggs and bacon, hamburgers and hot dogs, fajitas, oatmeal and make-your-own pizzas.

A highlight of the trip was an orienteering course around the park that ended in an ice cream treat for the students! They also engaged in a survival scenario, which really tapped into their teamwork and collaboration as a group.

Each night ended with s’mores, games and good chats around the campfire.

The group, which was chaperoned by Head of Health & Physical Education Erin McGee and Ryan Haigh, residential assistant, enjoyed great weather for the first two days of the trip, returning home Sunday under rainy skies but with many wonderful memories of their adventure.
