Doubt: A Parable takes the stage!
|Wednesday, 23 November 2011|
You don’t want to miss Trinity College School’s production of Doubt: A Parable, which runs the evenings of November 23rd, 24th and 25th in the Dick and Jane LeVan Theatre (curtain rises at 7:30 p.m.). Tickets will be available at the door at a cost of $5 for students, $12 for children/seniors and $15 for adults, with proceeds supporting the Invisible Children organization.
Doubt: A Parable is John Patrick Shanley’s award winning drama about the effects of a scandal which rocks a fictional church school in the mid-1960s. The play first ran on Broadway from 2004-2006, winning the Pulitzer Prize for drama and Tony Award for best play. In 2008, Shanley directed the film version of Doubt, starring Meryl Streep and Philip Seymour Hoffman. Exploring themes of certainty, judgment, faith and, of course, doubt, the audience is invited to draw its own conclusions from the confrontation between the rigid Sister Aloysius and the progressive Father Flynn, whom she suspects of having an inappropriate relationship with a student.
(Note: The play deals with mature themes.)
