Peter N. Thomson Family Bursary

The Peter N. Thomson Family Bursary celebrates the deep connection between the late Peter Nesbitt Thomson and his adopted home in the Bahamas. Established in 2019 by his step-son and wife Andrew & Julie Raeden, the bursary is awarded to a promising student from the Bahamas, who is seeking to join Trinity College School for their boarding experience starting in Grade 9.

The scholarship is merit-based and includes full tuition for the duration of the recipients’ studies in the boarding school program at Trinity College School. The recipient of the Peter N. Thomson Family Bursary must have strong academic and leadership potential, and the desire to become engaged in all aspects of the TCS community. Preference will be given to students who also have demonstrated financial need.

Eligibility

  • New boarding student
  • Resident of the Bahamas
  • Demonstrated financial need
  • Preference is given to students planning on attending for all 4 years starting in Grade 9

Requirements for Application

  • Complete the regular application process of Trinity College School by Friday, January 19, 2024.
  • Write a letter or essay stating why the applicant feels they are a good candidate and would be a worthy recipient of this bursary (limit of 500 words) by Friday, January 26, 2024.
  • This scholarship is given at the discretion of the TCS awards committee. The selection of a recipient is not based solely on academic achievement but also focuses on a candidate’s perceived ability to contribute to the school community.

Expectations of the Recipients

  • Maintain a minimum 80% academic average
  • Be involved in all three terms of co-curricular activities
  • Engage in leadership opportunities throughout their TCS career and act a role model for peers
  • Embrace TCS values and live up to TCS standards

Each scholarship recipient’s performance will be evaluated each year at the time of their second report card (February) and if all expectations are being met, the scholarship will be renewed for the following year.
