This year’s Capture Canada travel program is offering some new destinations for Trinity College School students to explore our country during long weekends. The Thanksgiving Break saw one group traveling to a new location: picturesque Deerhurst Resort, in the heart of the Muskokas.

Seven students joined Associate Director of Admission Jon Holmes and his family for the trip, heading out from TCS on Thursday, October 6th. Most of the students took advantage of the drive to Huntsville to have a nap, clearly looking forward to a weekend of rest and relaxation.

That said, there were many fun highlights over the next five days, such as finishing the hardest escape room with 20 minutes to spare, taking on a challenging climbing wall and delighting in a chilly kayak around Sunset Bay, which included sightings of a blue heron and several deer. Students took in the beautiful natural scenery of cottage country, and one determined group even headed out in the rain to play nine holes of golf.

The group enjoyed Pizza Hut delivery and homemade egg and bagel sandwiches, and for Thanksgiving were treated to a buffet dinner.

But most of all, the students truly appreciated the chance to relax – to sleep in, spend time with friends, get caught up with family on their phones, and to chill out in the comfortable accommodations of the resort.

Mr. Holmes says his family enjoyed spending the weekend with a lovely group of students, and his children were thrilled to hang out with “the teenagers!”
