Trinity College School’s Senior School harriers team led the way at the Conference of Independent Schools Athletic Association (CISAA) Championships held at Lakefield College School on Wednesday, October 26th, winning the overall championship, and qualifying 18 runners for the upcoming OFSAA provincial championships!
“What a great day – this was the strongest performance we’ve had at CISAA as a team in at least 15 years!” noted Mr. Steve Patterson, on behalf of the coaching team which also includes Ms. Tiffany Bathurst, Ms. Jodie Fisher, Mr. Matt Fox, Ms. Renée Hillier and Mr. Justin Murphy. “A successful day on the cross-country course doesn’t happen by accident. It takes hard work in training in the weeks and months leading up to a championship meet and the terrific results today are a testament to the runners’ hard work this season.” He concluded, “As Coach Murphy said to me today, ‘Training takes discipline and racing takes courage.’”
In addition to the overall title, several teams had success in their age divisions. The Junior girls placed first, winning CISAA gold, while the Senior girls and boys both earned silver medals. All three teams earned OFSAA berths.
A number of individual runners had success on the course, with top-10 finishes earned by:
- Abby Richards – 4th (Junior girls)
- Charlotte Patterson – 5th (Junior girls)
- Bianca Rigamonte – 6th (Junior girls)
- Charlotte Belanger – 7th (Junior girls)
- Aidan Small – 8th (Senior boys)
- Hannah Thompson – 10th (Junior girls)
- Liam Small – 10th (Senior boys)
In addition to these students, the runners who will join them to represent TCS at the OFSAA Championships on Saturday, November 5th at Dagmar Ski Resort in Uxbridge are: Reina Chen, TianTian Dong, Avery Vrooman, Nina Gardes, Iza Doruszuk, Dagna Jezioro, Xenia Blankenburg, Liam Gibson, Andrew Richards, James Hassard and Nolan McReelis.
