International Day enhances cultural awareness and sense of belonging
  • International Day enhances cultural awareness and sense of belonging

Trinity College School students were bursting with pride and thrilled to share their cultures during the annual International Day on Friday, February 24th. Organized by the Senior School’s Cultural Awareness Group (CAG), the day included a special morning event as well as a new initiative this year – the evening Cultural Coffee House!

On Friday morning, Cirne Commons was filled with colour as students joined together for a parade of different countries that make up our school community. Wearing their countries’ colours or traditional dress and carrying flags, groups of students processed through the gathering up to the dais. There, each of the 34 groups shared five “fun facts” about their countries. It was a joyous celebration of our international community at TCS.

In the evening, Cirne Commons again played host, as CAG held its first ever Cultural Coffee House. The evening was filled with wonderful performances. Thank you so much to the students (and staff!) who bravely took the stage to share their talents with their peers, and a special shout-out to the culinary services staff for providing a delicious snack for everyone.

International Day is a student-let event, and the student leaders of CAG worked diligently to create a day that enhanced the sense of belonging at the School, as well as educating everyone on the rich cultural tapestry that comprises our community. Thank you to student leaders and members of CAG, CAG faculty advisor Mrs. Rachel Stephens, and to the staff from many school departments who supported their efforts.
