TCS students score impressive results in computing contest
  • Student programmers

In February a group of Trinity College School students challenged themselves to write the Canadian Computing Competition, hosted by the Centre for Education in Mathematics and Computing (CEMC) at the University of Waterloo. The contest aims to help young programmers “build confidence and grow their ability to design, understand and implement algorithms.”

In the Junior contest, Risi C. scored 75 out of 75, a perfect score, to earn a spot in “group one” (the highest level of achievement). Risi is in Grade 10, but enrolled in the Grade 11 coding course at TCS.

In the Senior competitionMatthew K. scored 47 out of 75, to earn a spot in “group three.” This is impressive as Matthew is currently in Grade 10 and enrolled in a Grade 11 coding course, while many of his competitors will have completed or be close to finishing the Grade 12 coding course. This is the best score posted by a TCS student on the Senior contest in recent memory.

Congratulations to Risi and Matthew, and a shout-out to Saif S. and William L., who also scored spots on the “honour roll” in the Junior competition. Well done, Bears!
