Building on the recent CISAA success of the Senior School track team, Trinity College School’s competitive athletes have continued to bring home the hardware from CISAA finals in recent days.

Baseball: It was all gold for the Bears in the D1B baseball “final four” tournament hosted by De La Salle on May 22nd. In the semi-final, both teams were strong on the mound, but TCS defeated RSGC, 3-0. Tristan C. started the game for the Bears and recorded 15 outs on the way to a no-hitter. He went five innings, striking out three and walking four. TCS got on the board in the bottom of the fourth inning after an error scored one run, and Connor R. singled, scoring two runs. This sent TCS into the final, where Easton J. struck out 10 batters as the righty led the Bears past Bayview Glen, 6-0. Easton surrendered one hit and no runs over four innings while walking one. TCS got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Aidan H. scored on Easton’s sacrifice fly, and Connor R. grounded out, scoring two runs. A single by Aidan and a sacrifice fly by Easton helped the Bears extend their early lead in the second. Will B. threw one inning of no-run ball in relief, allowing one hit, striking out one, and walking none. Easton and Aidan were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, each driving in two runs. Aidan went 1-for-1 at the plate to lead TCS in hits. The Bears had a strong eye at the plate, piling up six walks in the game. The Bears were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error, with Joey P. solid at catcher all day. Congratulations to the Bears on their first CISAA Championship since 2018!

Badminton: Bigside hosted the CISAA Championship tournament on May 22nd in the Arnold Massey ’55 Athletic Centre, and walked away with multiple medals. Jerry C., Darren D., Atticus H., Eva Z. and Madison G. all won individual silver medals, and the team placed third in the overall co-ed standings.

Golf: The golf team headed to Lionhead Golf Club in Brampton for the CISAA Championships on May 22nd, and had a great day on the links, winning the silver medal as a team!

Rugby: Both the Bigside boys and Littleside boys will vie for CISAA titles following their semi-final wins on May 22nd. Bigside powered past St. Andrew’s, 22-17, in front of a home crowd. Littleside was dominant on both ends of the field, winning 20-0 over UCC. The teams will host their respective CISAA Championship games on Saturday, May 25th at the Tim Hay Field. Littleside kicks off at 10:00 a.m. against Crescent, and then Bigisde will face Appleby in the finals at 11:45 a.m.

The girls rugby teams closed out their seasons by participating in end-of-year tournaments at Ridley College. The Bigside team had a strong outing, earning silver medals in a very close battle with Appleby in the final, which came down to just one try!

Soccer: Bigside girls travelled to De La Salle for the CISAA final on May 22nd, but fell short, 4-1, to the top seeded Tigers. The Bears can be very proud of their silver medal finish! Littleside lost its quarter-final match to LCS, 4-1. The Under-14 soccer team won its quarter-final game over Crestwood Prep, at home on May 21st. The Bears earned a spot in the CISAA “final four” tournament taking place at St John’s-Kilmarnock on May 23rd.

Ultimate: The Bigside Bears worked hard to earn a spot in the “final four” amongst a demanding field of 10 ultimate Frisbee teams in the CISAA DII league. They headed to Country Day School, the top team in the west division, for their semi-final on May 22nd. Unfortunately, the Bears lost 11-6, but it was a well-fought match and a good game to end the season, says Coach Tim Clutton. Click here for photos from the semi-final.

Softball: Following a strong season, the Bears hosted the CISAA “final four” tournament at Wladyka Park, but lost in a tough extra-inning game against St. Clements in the semi-finals.

Rowing: Over the Victoria Day long weekend, the TCS rowing team travelled to Welland, Ontario, for the South Niagara Rowing Club Invitational regatta where they competed with over 50 schools and rowing clubs. The team persevered through a sudden warm front as well as a long fog delay on Sunday. A special shout-out to some of the top finishes from the weekend. Nya F. and Danie G. placed 10th in the Senior women's double, Gus S. and Danie G. placed fifth in the Senior mixed double, Claudia Z. (coxswain), Cederic H., Oliver W., Evan T. and Emilio L. placed second in the Junior men's coxed quad, and Gus S. placed eighth in the Senior men's single. The Junior women’s 63 kg 4+ team of Jazzy W., Addy N., Claire T., Sam R. and Leah W. (coxswain) finished in sixth place. It was an amazing weekend of growth and experience for all members of the team and a first racing experience for many. Click here for full regatta results from the SNI regatta. And click here for photos of the rowers, including from the SNRC regatta. Next up for the rowers are the CSSRA Championships in St. Catharines, beginning on May 31st. Follow their progress on the CSSRA website.
