U-14 volleyball team finishes season strong by making the championships!
  • Volleyball team

The Under-14 volleyball team played a great season. Game by game from December through February, we worked hard to strengthen our serving and develop our court play from one hit to three hits. By the end of regular season play, we were in fourth place in our division.

On February 27th, we travelled to The Hangar, in Toronto, for the season semi-final and championship games.

For our semi-final game, we had to play Hawthorn, the first place team. Our goal was to close the scoring gap we’d had in prior matches. We accomplished this by raising our own set scores to 16. Hawthorn pulled off the match win in two straight, though.

We then went to the bronze medal final against Pickering College. We had to up our energy and focus. During the game, we had times where we were dominantly in the lead, but wayward bumps and some missed serves meant we lost in two straight sets. We scored 20 points and 22 points, respectively. We really enjoyed playing Pickering all season and had some nice chats with their players at the end.

We’re really proud that we made it all the way to the championships and pushed through this whole season! Great work to the whole team!

Congratulations to all the players for their hard work and development, great sportsmanship towards other teams, and positive attitudes on the court.

Thank you to our coaches, Mrs. Reid before Christmas, Mme Murphy since Christmas and Ms. Elliott, for a great season.

Hope to see lots of people out at tryouts next year.
