First Through The Gates

Attending TCS in September 2020? First Through The Gates helps build confidence and prepare incoming students for a smooth transition in September.

This program is for new TCS students, both day and boarding, who are looking to integrate confidently into our classrooms and residences in September. The program will offer students a breadth of opportunities including the chance to adjust to school culture and life in boarding, improve their learning and leadership skills, and build relationships with other members of our community, including fellow new students.

Students are also offered a personalized academic experience with the opportunity to focus on areas including, but not limited to, Academic Support, Mathematics and English as a Second Language. Please see online registration form for all options. Students may choose to select multiple areas of focus.

Dates: August 23-September 3, 2020
Students will arrive on Sunday evening. Classes and student life orientation programs begin on Monday, August 24th. On August 28th, students will embark on a weekend camping excursion. The program comes to a close on Thursday, September 3rd at 3:00 p.m.

Cost: $1,990 CDN
(includes airport pick up, residence, meals & programming)

A non-refundable deposit of $1,000 is required upon registration. Cancellations may be subject to full fees following August 1, 2020.

Please note that students are unable to stay on campus between First Through The Gates and the beginning of the school year (Thursday, September 3rd to Wednesday, September 9th).

We recommend that students travel ahead of their families to TCS for the beginning of First Through The Gates. We provide complimentary airport pick-ups for any students travelling alone (arriving on August 23rd).

First Through The Gates finishes at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 3rd. Ideally, students can spend the long weekend in the care of their parents or guardians, and travel back to campus with their caregiver(s) for the School’s Opening Day (for new boarders) on Wednesday, September 9th. However, we understand that this is not possible for all families. If you need assistance in making arrangements for your child for these six days (Thursday, September 3rd to Wednesday, September 9th), please contact the program director. We are pleased to partner with an organization that provides engaging programming for students during this time, to ensure the transition into the school year is as seamless and stress-free as possible for families.
