Junior and Senior School faculty started the new year with a focus on professional development on Monday, January 6th, as sessions were held around campus for educational staff of Trinity College School.

A highlight of the program was the opening session on Truth & Reconciliation led by Old Girl Dana Wesley ’03. Ms. Wesley is the senior human rights officer, Indigenous issues, for the Canadian Union of Public Employees. She presented an overview of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada and the calls to action that were part of the commission’s 2015 final report. With this foundation, faculty members worked collaboratively to consider steps they could take on the path to reconciliation.

Along with departmental meetings and classroom prep time, faculty members also had the chance to sign up for various workshop sessions, including a follow-up discussion with Ms. Wesley; an informative look at cybersecurity and cloud storage; and a presentation on professional standards. There was also a block of time devoted to meetings on the Canadian Accredited Independent Schools (CAIS) internal review currently being undertaken by the School.

It was a great day of learning, fellowship and engaging discussions that set the tone for a productive second half of the school year.
