May is Asian Heritage Month

Asian Heritage Month is a chance for Canadians to learn more about the various accomplishments of Asian Canadians who have contributed so much to the beautiful country we share today. The Government of Canada declared May to be Asian Heritage Month in May 2002.

The theme for Asian Heritage Month 2022 is “Continuing a legacy of greatness.” It provides an opportunity to reflect on the achievements of Asian Canadians throughout history, and to look forward to the future with optimism.

It is also a rallying cry for all Canadians to strive together to oppose anti-Asian bigotry and prejudice in all forms. Let us appreciate our tremendous variety as a source of strength while being consistent in our opposition to anti-Asian bigotry and discrimination.

At TCS, we look forward to highlighting innovative Asian Canadians and others who have contributed to our society and, at times, despite challenges and prejudice.

Among the events planned for the month, on May 17th, the School will welcome guest speaker Kim Phuc, Vietnam war survivor and advocate for children affected by war.

Let us celebrate with people of many Asian backgrounds in the month ahead!
