Junior School celebrates mathletes of 2023

At this time of year, the Junior School celebrates the accomplishments of some of our strongest math students. In recent weeks, a number of students have been reaching ahead and testing their mettle by working towards success on one or more very challenging math contests administered by the Centre for Education in Mathematics and Computing at the University of Waterloo. Trinity College School has had some outstanding results on these contests over the years, and 2023 is no exception.

In total, the CEMC puts on nine different contests that TCS (Junior and Senior School) students participate in. Often, TCS comes in first or second place in our region for most of these contests, highlighting the calibre of math talent we have here.

Here below are the Junior School students who earned Distinction in the Grade 7 or 8 Gauss Contest or the Grade 9 Pascal or Fryer Contest. It should be noted that four out of five of the top Pascal results were from the Junior School, and four out of five of the top Fryer results were from the Junior School – including the winner!

Every student who wrote a contest is to be congratulated for taking on this tough challenge.
