MovemBears “let their hair down” for men’s health

Trinity College School’s annual support of the Movember campaign for men’s health took a new spin this year, with a house challenge that had hair-raising results! Team MovemBears raised more than $3,600 over the month of November, funds which will go towards Movember’s many projects to improve men’s wellness.

Each November, students and staff can participate in Movember by growing a moustache or by taking part in physical activity (Move for Movember), raising funds and awareness of issues including prostate cancer, mental health and suicide prevention.

A highlight of this year’s campaign was a challenge to Senior School houses: the house with the highest level of donor participation earned the right to shave Mr. Mike Harding’s prodigious beard. In the end, Bickle House won the honours and on Friday, December 1st, Mr. Harding sat in Cirne Commons while a crowd of students looked on as the winners “designed” a new look for him.

Thanks go out to the Mental Health Awareness Club (MHAC), which led student participation in Movember. Staff participation was led by Mr. Grant Elson, and the end result of this collaboration was the highest total raised in more than a decade of Movember participation at TCS.
