The alpine ski season came to a lightning fast finale for the Trinity College School team, with members of the school-trained male and female teams, and the open female team competing and placing in the top amongst teams and individuals at the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) Championships, held February 26th and 27th at Osler Bluff Ski Club in Collingwood, Ontario. The second day of racing was especially challenging, with a storm front moving in quickly, race start times being bumped up, and lightning and thunder forcing a cancellation of run two. Our three TCS teams showed great resilience and spirit on the hill.

On day one, Grade 11 student Addy O’Grady (9th place overall) and Grade 9 student Lucy Pacaud (11th place overall) led the TCS open females into a fabulous fourth place finish as a team. Additional fast runs by Sophie O’Hea, Thea Igel and Charlotte Pacaud secured the team this wonderful result. On day two, Addy brought in another ninth-place finish and the team pounded down fast runs, with Lucy and Thea making the top-30 flip to land the team in a fifth place finish overall.

Led by Grade 11 student Ally Jiang (9th in giant slalom) and Grade 12 student Léa Jane David Frenette (10th in slalom), our school-trained girls also had strong days on the slopes, finishing fifth overall in both events. This included strong finishes by teammates Quinlyn Mendum, Magdalena Kuhn and Sela Schunk.

The school-trained boys team landed in seventh place overall in the giant slalom on day one, and then rocketed their slalom runs on day two to bring home an amazing bronze medal finish in the slalom event. In the slalom event on day 2, Emerson Mendum (15th), Nicolas Boisvert (18th) and Aidan Small (19th) all made the top-30 flip. Congratulations to Emerson, Aidan, Nicolas, and fellow team members Naveen Schaeflein and Hudson Moss for bringing home the hardware and this amazing result with their incredible runs.

Congratulations to all of our alpine skiers, including our grads Emerson Mendum, Aidan Small, Léa Jane David Frenette, Hannah Bailey, Sela Schunk, Anni Campbell Nikolovsky, Nolan McReelis and Matthew Lambert.

Thank you to our student managers, Connor Jamieson, Hannah Bailey and Anni Campbell Nikolovsky, for all of their hard work and support on hill with the teams. The coaches also wish to thank Claire Thiebaud, Leah Wilmott and Philip Wildfueur for their team support both days. Also, the team and coaches are grateful to Nicole Igel for her amazing parent support throughout the entire season with gatekeeping and video.

The coaches are thrilled for all alpine athletes and look forward to next year with many returning racers.
