Bell ringers share talents with local seniors

Trinity College School’s handbell ringers have been sharing their talents recently with audiences at local seniors’ residences.

The tradition of TCS handbell ensembles playing at seniors’ homes dates back to the late 1990s, when the bells were originally played by younger students in Tottenham House, as the Junior School was known.

On Friday, March 1st, a group of Senior School ringers and handbell director Randy Mills headed to nearby Extendicare Port Hope, a visit that was special in many ways. A long-time community partner of TCS, Extendicare asked the ringers to help celebrate their 20th anniversary. They also invited local MPP and TCS alumnus David Piccini ’06 to attend. Mr. Piccini received a TCS bell tie and bell pin from current students Charlotte and Beau on Friday. A special thank you to local Port Hope councillor Adam Pearson, who took photos of the TCS group during their visit to Extendicare.

This same crew of eight Senior ringers also performed at Roseglen Village, on Tuesday, March 5th. Also located in our neighbourhood, Roseglen is another long-standing community partner of the School. The ringers were outstanding and the residents thoroughly enjoyed the performance. Afterwards, the students enjoyed dinner at McDonald’s to celebrate!
