Students pour creativity into woodworking projects
  • Students using woodworking tools

This term is proving to be another highly productive one for the students in the Trinity College School Woodworking Club. As always, the students have been highly motivated, dedicated and are approaching their creative work with a high level of focus and care.

Risi C. is using the power carving tools to create an intricate carving of a hawk and her attention to detail is highly impressive. Ellie B. has taken on the challenging task of using the scroll saw to create the “Elder Scrolls” logo with black cherry, which involves cutting and shaping over 100 pieces – and she is off to a great start. Hugo Y., also using the scroll saw, is nearing completion of a unique “wavy” bowl made out of black walnut, and the quality of his work has been exceptional.

Meanwhile, William J. is making an amazing “custom designed” laminated canoe paddle using western red cedar and basswood, while Max C. is creating a set of basswood candle holders using the foot-powered treadle lathe. Finally, Charlie S. is competently carving a dough bowl made out of white spruce using a variety of hand tools.

It is exciting to think of what the final products will look like once finished!
